Overview of the mobility service available at the alex stations
What barrier-free boarding facilities does alex offer at the station of your choice?
Below you will find an overview of the mobility information for the following routes:
Assistance for boarding at stations
Many local and long-distance train stations in Germany have lifts or ramps to assist passengers boarding the alex trains. Many stations also have staff, Station Mission helpers and other social services on hand to help you.
However, as assistance cannot be provided at all stations and at all times, please check with the Mobility Service Centre before you travel to see if assistance with boarding, alighting or transferring is available at the station you wish to use and at the time you wish to use it.
Barrier-free boarding on the buses of the rail replacement service
In principle, it is possible to transport people with reduced mobility. However, as it cannot be guaranteed that a suitable bus (e.g. low floor) will be available at the right time and place without prior registration, please make sure you register your journey with the Mobility Centre on 030 65212888 (local rate).
A solution can then be found in consultation with the railway company.
Combined 1st/2nd class carriages
Every alex train has at least one combined 1st/2nd class carriage equipped with a mechanical folding ramp. This is indicated by the wheelchair symbol on the corresponding entrance door. If necessary, our service staff will make sure that wheelchair users, for example, can get on and off the train with ease. Close to the entrance (second class area) there is a spacious area with three clearly marked seats for severely disabled passengers and two wheelchair spaces, as well as a toilet for the disabled. Our service staff make sure that these seats are available when needed and are not used for other purposes.
Bicycle spaces on the train
You will find a place for your bicycle in the multi-purpose area of our vehicles. Look for the bicycle pictogram on the outside of each entrance door. We kindly ask you to secure your bike with the straps provided for this purpose. Please understand that prams and wheelchairs have priority. For safety reasons, bicycles can only be transported within the limits of available capacity. There is no entitlement to bicycle transport.
You can find more detailed information on bicycle transport in the information flyer >>
All information (prices etc.) about the bike tickets can be found here >>.
Our conditions of carriage for the transport of bicycles can be found here >> (§ 15 der TBB).
Luggage transport
Luggage racks above the seats provide ample space for your luggage. If this is not enough, please make use of the multi-purpose areas and secure your luggage with the straps provided for this purpose.
Children’s play areas
A fun way for the little ones to pass the time while travelling. In some of the compartments of the alex carriages, which are painted grey on the outside, you will find various children’s play modules.
