Bayerische Eisenbahngesellschaft (BEG)
Bayerische Eisenbahngesellschaft is a company owned by the Free State of Bavaria. On behalf of the State Ministry of Economic Affairs, Infrastructure, Transport and Technology, BEG plans, finances and controls local rail passenger transport (SPNV) in Bavaria. The main tasks of BEG are to design and improve timetables and to ensure the quality of regional rail transport in Bavaria.
Contracts for transport services are awarded through competitive tendering procedures. The contract is awarded to the transport company that submits the best offer in terms of quality and price. As a result, BEG has been able to continuously improve not only the timetable offer but also quality features such as punctuality, comfort and passenger information in recent years.
Major successes included the introduction of the Bayern-Takt – an hourly service covering almost the whole of Bavaria – and the Bayern-Ticket with its trademark: One ticket – one day – five people – all of Bavaria!
