Extensive track and railway infrastructure works carried out by the infrastructure manager DB InfraGO will result in several weeks of train cancellations on the oberpfalzbahn RB 23 and alex RE 23 services between 27 June and 14 September 2026. Replacement bus services will be provided. Depending on the construction phase and period, the affected route sections and railway services will vary.
Marktredwitz ↔ Weiden
Construction Phase 1: 27 June – 15 August 2026 and Construction Phase 3: 24 August – 14 September 2026
- No trains of the oberpfalzbahn RB 23 or alex RE 23 services will operate.
- Replacement buses will run hourly, serving all intermediate stops (journey time: 1 hour 23 minutes).
- In addition, RE 2 express buses will operate every two hours without stopping in Wiesau (journey time: 50 minutes).
Marktredwitz ↔ Weiden ↔ Schwandorf
Construction Phase 2: 16 August – 23 August 2026 (Extension of the closed railway section to Schwandorf)
- No trains of the oberpfalzbahn RB 23 or alex RE 23 services will operate.
- Replacement buses for the RB 23 service will run with stops at all intermediate stations. Due to the length of the route, passengers will be required to change from one replacement bus to another in Weiden.
- In addition, hourly express buses will operate between Marktredwitz and Schwandorf, stopping in Weiden.

Accessible Travel
The continuous use of fully accessible low-floor buses cannot be guaranteed. Travelers with reduced mobility are therefore advised to register in advance via the online form or through the nationwide Mobility Service Center hotline: +49 30 65 212 888
Bicycle and Stroller Transport
Bicycles can only be accommodated on replacement buses if there is sufficient space and cannot be guaranteed. Strollers are transported to a limited extent.
Tickets for Replacement Services
All tickets remain valid on replacement buses. However, tickets are not sold on the replacement buses. Please purchase your tickets in advance online or at the station ticket machines.
